가족 일로 잠시 고향 대구에 머물게 되었습니다. 짧은 시간이지만, 오랜만에 다시 살아보는 대구는 여전히 사람의 정을 느낄 수 있는 도시입니다. 이곳에서 고향의 향기를 깊게 느끼고 있습니다.
매일 아침 어린 아이와 함께 산책을 나갑니다. 그 시간 속에서 자연스럽게 사람들을 만나게 됩니다. 아이에게 먼저 말을 걸어오는 어르신들, 자신의 강아지에게 먹이를 줘보라며 웃으며 다가오는 애견 주인, 아이의 긴장을 풀어주려 간식을 건네는 아주머니들.
대구에서는 사람들이 아이에게 애정을 숨기지 않고 표현합니다. 그 솔직한 따뜻함이 이 도시를 더욱 특별하게 만듭니다.
일본에서는 쉽게 느끼기 어려웠던 사람들 사이의 자연스러운 교류가, 이곳에서는 일상처럼 이어집니다. 그래서인지 매일의 산책이 더욱 즐겁게 느껴집니다.
우리는 어떤 것을 평가할 때 다양한 기준을 고려합니다. 그렇다면 ‘대구’라는 도시는 무엇으로 평가할 수 있을까요.
저는 이렇게 생각합니다. 아름다운 것에 솔직하게 반응할 줄 아는 사람들이 있는 도시.
그래서 대구는 아름답습니다.
Daegu Is Beautiful
I recently found myself staying in my hometown, Daegu, for a short time due to family matters. Though my stay is brief, living here again after so long has reminded me that Daegu is still a city where human warmth can be deeply felt. I find myself rediscovering the familiar scent of home.
Every morning, I go out for a walk with my young child. During these walks, I naturally encounter people. Elderly strangers who warmly speak to my child, a dog owner who smiles and invites my child to feed their dog, and women who offer snacks to help ease my child’s nervousness.
In Daegu, people do not hesitate to express their affection toward a child. That honest warmth makes this city feel all the more special.
The kind of natural human interaction that is difficult to experience in Japan flows effortlessly here. Perhaps that is why these daily walks feel especially joyful.
When we evaluate something, we usually consider many different factors. So how should we evaluate a city like Daegu?
This is what I have come to think: A city where people respond sincerely to what is beautiful.
That is why Daegu is beautiful.
