When Japanese people visit Korea, they often come back with a new phrase: “Ppalli ppalli!” (Hurry, hurry!). Foreigners quickly learn just how impatient Koreans can seem, as they are swept up in the fast-paced rhythm of Korean culture. Koreans are goal-oriented by nature. Once a goal is set, they focus intensely on reaching it, often prioritizing the quickest path over the journey itself. As a result, efficiency and outcomes take precedence over process. This goal-driven mindset is a distinctive aspect of Korean culture, and thus cannot be judged simply as good or bad.
