‘친일’과 ‘보수’는 오랜 시간 도덕적 낙인으로 쓰여 왔다. 그러나 외교와 정치는 감정보다 국익에 기반해야 한다. 미국에는 일본을 깊이 이해하고 협력을 설계하는 전문가들이 많지만, 그들을 ‘친일파’라 부르지 않는다. 그들은 미국의 이익을 위해 일본을 연구하는 사람들이다. 보수는 과거에 머무는 것이 아니라 질서를 회복하고 책임을 다하는 정치다. 언어가 바뀌어야 정치가 바뀐다. 이제 새로운 언어 게임이 필요하다.
The terms “pro-Japanese” and “conservative” have long been used as moral stigmas. But diplomacy and politics must be grounded not in emotion, but in national interest. In the United States, there are many experts who deeply study Japan and design cooperation strategies—yet no one calls them “pro-Japanese traitors.”
They are professionals working to serve America’s interests. Conservatism is not about clinging to the past, but about restoring order and acting with responsibility. If we want to change politics, we must first change the language. It’s time for a new language game.
