마치 자신의 말이 진실의 전부인 것처럼, 다른 의견이 들어올 틈조차 주지 않습니다.
그것이 고도의 정치적 전술인지, 단순한 정치적 수사인지는 알기 어렵습니다.
하지만 시민들이 정치인의 짧은 한마디에 지나치게 반응할 필요는 없습니다.
말보다 그 말이 만들어내는 결과를 지켜보는 것이 중요하기 때문입니다.
개인과 사회가 실제로 어떻게 변화하는지 확인한 뒤 판단해도 늦지 않습니다.
오히려 위정자에게 필요한 것은 상대방을 압도하는 말솜씨가 아니라 자신의 행동을 통해 얻은 권위일 것입니다.
현실과 동떨어진 주장, 화려한 수사, 상대방을 위하는 것처럼 보이지만 결국 자신의 이익을 위한 정치적 계산은 일시적으로 사람들의 관심을 끌 수 있습니다.
그러나 정치가 말과 이미지에만 의존하게 되면 시민의 판단을 흐리고, 정치에 대한 신뢰를 약화시킬 수 있습니다.
정치는 결국 사람들의 삶을 변화시키는 행위입니다.
그렇다면 정치인에게 필요한 것은 오늘 사람들을 열광시키는 한마디가 아니라, 시간이 지나도 그 행동으로 설명할 수 있는 판단일 것입니다.
위정자에게 필요한 것은 작심발언이 아니라 신중한 행동입니다.
Leaders Need Prudence, Not Grand Statements
Today, some politicians use short and powerful statements to spread their beliefs through social media.
They speak as if their words contain the whole truth, leaving little room for other opinions.
Whether this is sophisticated political strategy or simply political rhetoric is difficult to know.
But citizens do not need to react too strongly to every short statement made by a politician.
What matters is not only what politicians say, but what their words actually produce.
We can wait and observe how individuals and society actually change before making our judgment.
Perhaps what political leaders need is not the ability to overwhelm others with words, but the authority earned through their actions.
Arguments detached from reality, elaborate rhetoric, and political calculations that appear to serve others while ultimately serving oneself may attract people’s attention for a while.
But when politics becomes dependent on words and images, it can cloud citizens’ judgment and weaken trust in politics.
Politics is ultimately an activity that changes people’s lives.
If so, what politicians need is not a statement that excites people today, but judgment that they can still explain through their actions over time.
